Talking points:
The House Commerce Committee spent a lot of time listening to all sides of this issue. They carefully crafted a compromise that would weigh lightly on the industry, but still allow consumers to be informed and protect their privacy. |
This is a labeling bill only. Consumers have a right to know if they are purchasing something that can be used to identify and track them later. What, after all, is the compelling argument for such secrecy? |
Indeed, we require full disclosure of even what's in the bottled water we buy. Why should potential incursions on our privacy be any less important? |
By setting a fair and reasonable standard, we will encourage other states to do the same. |
New Hampshire has a long tradition of respecting the privacy of its citizens; this bill would continue that tradition. |
Privacy is an issue everyone can appreciate; this bill has strong bipartisian support. |
